In 2021, when Union Pacific’s legendary Big Boy #4014 rolled through St. Louis, the world’s largest operating steam locomotive encountered an unexpected mechanical issue. 

A replacement part was needed … FAST!

Because we’re home to Union Pacific Big Boy #4006, we were honored to loan a critical component that helped keep #4014 on the rails and history moving.  

Now, that remarkable piece of railroad history is coming home … and YOU could be part of the story!

Enter our raffle for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to personally accept, on behalf of the Museum, this historic part from Ed Dickens, Senior Manager of Heritage Operations at Union Pacific and the driving force behind the restoration and operation of Big Boy #4014. (In the unlikely event that Ed Dickens is unable to transfer the part, another member of the #4014 crew will be his substitute.)

This isn’t just a raffle prize – it’s your chance to witness the ceremonial return of the very part that helped keep the world’s most famous steam locomotive rolling.
