What can we expect at the #4014 party?

The Museum will be open as a regular day, beginning at 9:00am. There will be live music and a food truck in addition to our world-class collection of transportation artifacts. And, of course, #4006 will be attending, as well!

Is #4014 stopping at the Museum this year?

We’re not sure. We did request that they do, but that is up to Union Pacific to decide!

How accessible is the viewing area?

We encourage guests with mobility limitations to use their best judgment before attending. The section of the Museum nearest the Union Pacific tracks is tricky terrain, with many rows of rail to cross. Those with strollers, wheelchairs, walkers, etc. may want to consider viewing at an alternative location. We do apologize for any inconvenience, but the safety of our guests is our highest priority.

When will #4014 be travelling through Kirkwood, Pacific, etc.? Where can I best view it?

This is a Union Pacific endeavor, and the Museum is only playing host to a viewing party on Monday, July 20th. Please view the UP website for up-to-date details about the #4014 schedule.

Your 'party' is sold out? Can I still visit the Museum to watch #4014 pass by?

Of course! You will need to park at our main entrance and purchase Museum admission at the William R. and Laura Rand Orthwein Education & Visitor Center upon entry.

Can we bring chairs, water, sunscreen, etc?

Please do! Chairs, water bottles, sunscreen, sunbrellas, all are welcome! It is going to be extremely hot, so please plan accordingly.

Anything else we should know?

Enter our raffle to be a PART of railroad history!

Where do we go to see #4014 at the Museum?

View a Museum map here. The Union Pacific line is at the outskirts of the grounds, southeast of buildings 7 and 8. Please note that unless you purchased $40.14 reserved parking prior to visiting, you will only be allowed to park in our main parking lot, inside entrance #1. Also note that there are many rows of rail to cross in order to reach the UP tracks. This is tricky terrain and those with strollers, wheelchairs, walkers, etc. may want to consider viewing at an alternative location. We do apologize for any inconvenience, but the safety of our guests is our highest priority.
