MetroMarket Bus Rehab

This bus traveled more than one million miles as a Bi-State bus before being used by Operation Food Search as a MetroMarket bringing fresh fruit, vegetables, proteins, and other healthy foods directly into neighborhoods with limited access to affordable groceries. Operation Food Search donated the bus to the Museum earlier this year. At their request, we will keep the outside the same; however, we are rehabbing the inside to serve as a ‘Sant’s CAN Do Spirit’ canned food collection site for the 2026 holiday season. After the holidays, we will work to make the bus a static display demonstrating that transportation can do more than move people. With a little imagination, a retired transit bus can connect neighbors with the healthy food they need.
