The National Museum of Transportation will host its online fundraising auction, “Preserving the Journey,” from June 1–7, 2026, offering supporters unique experiences and exclusive opportunities while helping preserve one of the nation’s premier transportation collections.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, The National Museum of Transportation relies on the community’s generous financial support to continue preserving transportation history for future generations. The Museum receives no government financial support.
“Our campus represents 20 decades of transportation history, showcasing the innovation, imagination, and engineering that helped shape America,” said Terri McEachern, Executive Director of The National Museum of Transportation. “We depend on the support of our community to help preserve this remarkable collection so future generations can continue to learn from and enjoy these historic treasures.”
Auction highlights include several one-of-a-kind experiences and packages, including:
–“Cocktails by the Cockpit” — a private party for 20 guests held beneath the wings of the Museum’s F/A-18 E1 Super Hornet
–Front row seating to witness the passing of the legendary Union Pacific Big Boy #4014
-The opportunity to have children or grandchildren featured as characters in the Museum’s popular storybook trail
Additional auction items and experiences will also be available throughout the week-long event.
The National Museum of Transportation was voted for two consecutive years among the Top Five Open Air Museums in the Country by the USA Today Readers’ Choice Poll.
The Museum is open daily through Labor Day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
