International CXT Pickup
The International Extreme Truck Series (often identified by the acronym XT) is a pickup truck that was built by Navistar International from 2004 to 2008. The XT line marked International's return to the production of a commercial pickup truck since 1975. The largest pickup trucks ever mass-produced for retail sale, two of the XT trucks were developed from the International medium-duty truck range, while the third was a variant of an International military tactical vehicle (similar in concept to the Hummer H1). The International CXT (Commercial Extreme Truck) was the first variant of the XT-Series to enter production (2005-2006) with 200 to 300 units built, making it a very rare and collectable truck. At its launch, Navistar targeted the CXT towards business owners, marketing the truck as a dual-purpose vehicle. In addition to its towing and hauling capabilities, the CXT could be used as a promotional vehicle, essentially a large rolling billboard.
This 2005 International CXT represents the 2000s in our '100 Years of Route 66' exhibit, and is on loan from SCE Inc.
