Photo of French Made Steam Engine “Fontaine” built by Grant Locomotive Works. These weird locomotives where built with two wheels up and where tried on different kinds of trains, but proved inferior in every respect. Low on power being the biggest complaint. Sadly none survive today. This engine was operated by the Florida East Coast Railroad. This railroad was established by Henry Morrison Flagler who was partner to John D Rockefeller in the Standard Oil Company. Flagler took his oil money and invested heavily into Floridas tourist and agriculture business by putting his railroad all over the state of Florida. Flagler is credited with making Florida a tourist and agriculture powerhouse.
