2021 Speakers Series

The National Museum of Transportation is hosting an exciting free professional Speaker Series from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the second Thursday of the month. The series begins June 10, 2021, and continues through November 11, 2021, at our Earl C. Lindburg Automobile Center on the Mezzanine. To view the series flyer, please go here.

The series is open to the the general public and no admission is required, but advanced reservations are necessary to allow us to stay within County restrictions. Make your reservations today to ensure you have spot considering the attendance limitations. TNMOT adheres to St. Louis County pandemic rules: Masks are required and social distancing is mandated.

The topics and presenters are:

  • June 10 – Jason Stratman, Charles Lindbergh: The Man, the Myth, the Legend (Completed)
  • July 8 – James Erwin, Steamboat Disasters (Completed)
  • August 12 – William Michael Hart, Historic Missouri Roadside Traveling on a 2-Lane Highway
  • September 9 – Kelly Johnston, All Maps Are Lies
  • October 14 – Sharon Smith, Route 66: Main Street through St. Louis (changed to virtual, live)
  • November 11 – Ed Dickens, who ran the working restoration and touring of a “Big Boy” steam locomotive, Union Pacific No. 4014. Ed’s event is SOLD OUT! If you would like to be placed on a waiting list, please email us at [email protected] with your name (names as in plural if more guests are coming with you and they want to be added) and email address.

Note: All presenters, except Sharon Smith (who will be live but virtual, a belated change), will be speaking in person at the Museum with the possible exception of Mr. Dickens, who resides in Wyoming and will be presenting live but potentially virtually in light of the current travel challenges. If Mr. Dickens does an in-person presentation, the event will likely be moved to the lower level of the auto museum to accommodate additional attendees. Fingers crossed! Thank you for your understanding.
