DESCRIPTION:Are you the ULTIMATE Railfan?! Join us on Saturday\, September 19th from 9:15am – noon for an intimate campus-wide rail tour at an advanced level. \nThe Ultimate Railfan Tour is geared towards people with a deeper interest in and understanding of railroading. Starting at $25 per person\, this tour lasts up to three hours and covers a significant portion of the Museum’s diverse collection of railroad equipment. Due to the nature of the Museum’s terrain\, participants will have to walk significant distances on gravel and over train tracks; closed-toed shoes are recommended\, tour is limited to 10 people\, ages 12 and up only. \nThe tour would include the lower yard\, Abbott Building\, Robert’s Building\, and most other outdoor equipment. \nMuseum Members may sign up beginning September 1st \nNon-Members may register beginning September 7th  \nPurchase your tickets here.

DESCRIPTION:The National Museum of Transportation Celebrates 100 Years of Route 66 with New Exhibit:  “Roads\, River\, Rooms\, and Reels” \nSt. Louis\, MO – The National Museum of Transportation is proud to announce a special exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary of historic Route 66. Titled “Roads\, River\, Rooms\, and Reels\,” the exhibit will open to the public on March 14\, 2026\, and will explore the stories\, memories\, and modes of travel that shaped America’s most iconic highway and the communities connected to it. \nTwo iconic features anchor the exhibit. Visitors will experience a stunning 26-foot model of the S.S. Admiral\, beautifully restored by the skilled craftsmen of Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 36\, honoring the legendary riverboat that once defined river travel and entertainment in the Midwest. The exhibit will also spotlight the beloved ’66’ Park-In Theatre on Watson Road\, owned by the Wehrenberg Family of St. Louis\, Missouri\, a treasured symbol of drive-in movie culture and shared community memories along Route 66.
