One of the bygone delights of shopping downtown St. Louis, Missouri, during the holidays was viewing the elaborate model train display in the Famous-Barr department store corner window. The trains rolled through mountain passes, over snowy landscapes, through miniature towns. After Macy’s acquired Famous-Barr, the train display was eventually donated to the care of The National Museum of Transportation. TNMOT reassembles the massive, intricate display annually in its William R. and Laura Rand Orthwein Education and Visitor Center where guests can still see and hear those trains humming as they wend their way through a magical winter wonderland.
*During this unprecedented Covid-19 time, we are now required to reduce capacity on our peak days. We have quickly switched to an online reservation system to comply. We are grateful for the support and understanding of our Museum friends. To this end, we are charging members a reduced rate for this event and we are unable to honor free admission tickets or TNMOT Half-Price Family and Guest Pack tickets on this date as that may put us over the government capacity restrictions.
